Alex Vlachokostas is a Postdoctorate Research Associate at the Building Energy Systems group. His research interests include Energy Modeling, Energy Efficiency, Connected Devices in Residential Buildings, and Transactive Energy. He received his Bachelor degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in Greece. Then he pursed his MS in Sustainability in the Urban Environment at City College of the City University of New York and participated in the college's Solar Decathlon project. Followed by the MS, Alex continued his studies to pursue a PhD in Electrical Engineering.

During his PhD studies he interned with private engineering companies and National Labs which helped him advance his all-round-education on building energy systems. Alex is always interested in innovative low-cost/high-impact projects that can reduce energy consumption in both residential and commercial buildings.
